A story of God’s grace, a holy ambition, and gospel partnerships
This story must start with God’s grace because, without it, there is no story at all! Almost nine years ago, God used a pastoral mentor, and other circumstantial factors, to create a strong desire in Ken’s heart to plant a church in Florida. After Ken shared with his wife, Megan, his desire to plant a church, God began to create that same desire in her heart as well. Over the years, the Thompson’s burden to minister in Florida only intensified. The Thompsons desired to incorporate others into this vision as well. They shared their vision to start a church with friends, family, and spiritual leaders in their lives. After much prayer and conversation, the initial plans for a church plant materialized.
Ken and Megan prayed for partnerships with other likeminded couples who could join them on this journey. God used several close friendships to develop into a church-planting team. As the initial church planting team formed in Minnesota, Calvary Church in Clearwater, FL unrolled a strategic vision for church multiplication that included the resources for church planting, both locally and nationally. God then brought the Thompsons together with the team at Calvary to partner for the purpose of starting Bay Cities Fellowship in Oldsmar, FL.
